DJI Mavic Pro 2, 800th/sec at f3.5. I love shooting people and culture, this shoot brought them together again—my happy place.

We got a sweet assignment photographing people in their natural element. The job came in from a secret agency in Madrid requesting a road trip theme. We reached out to a crew to find talent and a sweet rig for the shoot. A lot of luck mixed with a lot of work led us to a 1967 Land Rover and a crew of naturally beautiful talent.
We were looking for a very natural candid feel, so we shot most everything with dynamic posing. We had the crew interact organically around the vehicle at our central Colorado, USA location. We stopped three times to shoot the parked rig stuff which included some classic driver/friends lifestyle shots along with more intimate relationship work. The result was an awe-inspiring feel of adventure and love.
Delphine, who grew up in France, had experience driving a standard transmission. I also wanted to show women being tough and cool, so I asked her to drive the Land Rover. I think it worked!

Nikon D850 with a 80-200 f3.5 at 2.8 Shutter at 500th/sec and we shot from out of the sunroof of my 4-runner.
We had a call time of 4:30 pm at the base of Independence Pass. Since we were a little late getting out the door, we had to shoot quickly to catch the sunset at the peak and to capture our fireside scenes.
I loved doing this shoot because it was totally organic and because we had a pretty fair budget. I worked with new and old friends and got help obtaining a street-legal fire pit and great talent and propscool through the amazing Eagle, Colorado community.
I feel so much love in this occupation and great group of people. We worked hard through pre-production, production, and post, and we were fortunate enough to impress the client. Six more assignments are on the way. We’ll be doing one in Iceland in early August, one in Missoula Mt in late August, and another in Bonneville at the salt flats in Early September.

125th/sec at f4.5. I wanted to show little motion in the background and 4.5 for a little extra depth of field. I shot from the hood sitting on the spare tire.
